Joseph Tracey ~ Class of 1989

Joseph Tracey moved from Flemington, New Jersey in 1984 and has been a Lacey Township resident since. Growing up, he immediately became engaged in extracurricular activities, such as Lacey Township Pop Warner and Little League programs. In 1986, he went to Lacey Township High School where he was a team member of the 1985 Freshman football teams 9-0 season, capped by a 5-0 victory over rival Central Regional in the season finale, coached by John Kilmurray. One of his favorite memories was being a member of Coach Lou Vircillo’s first State Championship team, defeating Woodrow Wilson of Camden in the 1988 season.

This game has been described as the Jersey Shores game of the decade. Joe also played Varsity baseball under Ernie Leta, where he was a three-year letter award winner. After high school, he attended Ocean County College and later enrolled at William Paterson College where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Criminal Justice. Over the years, Joe's job titles included IT Technical Recruiter, Director of Talent Management and then took responsibility of Director of Employee Relations in Atlantic City. In 2001, he got married and decided with his new wife, Angie, Lacey Township was the town they wanted to build their family.

Their son, Owen, was born in the summer of 2003. Joe was a proud father watching Owen grow up in the Lacey Township community, where he also participated in the same sports as his son. Joe was fortunate to have the opportunity to coach on both the baseball field and the basketball court. Joe could not be more proud of his son watching him excel in the Lacey School district, where he has been recognized as a two-time varsity basketball player, three-time letter winner in tennis, NHS member and will soon graduate with an OCC Associates degree prior to Lacey graduation.

During this time, Joe was engaged with the high school basketball booster club where he was responsible as Treasurer for the Men’s Varsity program during the ’20 & ’21 seasons. Today, Joe is the Co-Founder and Vice President of Strategic Accounts at Merge IT, delivering IT Professional services, Server Assessment/migrations and Cyber Security solutions to some of the country’s largest solution providers, such as Ryder Systems, Dell/EMC and ATOS North America. Merge IT is currently a $30 million company and is tracking to be one of the fastest growing IT solutions providers in the country.

Joe and his family are proud they made the decision to stay in Lacey Township and enjoy all the community and education systems they have to offer.
