Dylan Emmett graduated from Lacey Township High School in 2015.  Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the US Marines as a machine gunner. His first deployment was to Syria, where he spent 6 months. His last deployment was to Okinawa. After serving a little over 4 years and achieving the rank of Sergeant, he was honorably discharged. The day after he returned home, he began attending Ocean County College.

While attending college, he was hired as a Class II police officer for the Cape May Police Department. He attended the Police Academy for 3 months while pursuing his associates degree. He spent one season with Cape May and was then hired by the Lacey Township Police Department as a Special Law Enforcement officer where he served 9 months before being sworn in as a full-time officer.
