We will be using Words Their Way for our spelling program. Students will study a specific sound or spelling pattern each week; their chosen skill will be based on their current level of understanding. I will explain more about the program on Back to School Night.
Students will add and subtract numbers to 20, develop an understanding of place value and basic geometry, and learn to interpret data presented in tables and charts.
Social Studies & Science
Students will be learning about citizenship, communities, important figures in United State's history, and the basics of geography in Social Studies. Science topics will include light and sound waves, space systems, life cycles, and living and non-living organisms.
Our ReadyGen reading program uses both non-fiction and realsitic fiction texts. Students will learn how to retell stories, identify key details, characters, and settings, and how to draft, revise, and publish writing pieces.
