Basic Skills Instruction

The New Jersey Department of Education sets minimum levels of proficiency in English Language Arts and Mathematics. Some children may need assistance or supplemental instruction in one or more of these areas. Therefore, Lacey Township School District offers a Basic Skills Improvement Program. The mission of the program is to provide supplemental literacy and mathematics instruction in an effort to develop the necessary grade level skills for identified students in grades 1-12.

Program Identification
The Lacey Township School District Basic Skills Program is offered to students in grades 1-12. Students are identified for inclusion into the program utilizing multiple criteria. Standardized test results, benchmark assessments, report card grades, and teacher recommendation serve as the basis for program identification.

Students may exit the program if sufficient evidence exists that the child is able to maintain academic achievement consistent with grade-level expectations.
